FIRE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES NEW ISO CLASSIFICATION
The Rootstown Fire Department was recently evaluated by the Insurance Services Organization. This organization goes to communities throughout our nation and evaluates the fire protection capabilities of each fire department. Once they complete the evaluation the department is placed in a classification from 1-10. Your homeowner’s insurance premiums can be established by this classification. Previously our community was a split classification of 6/9. If you lived within 1000 feet of a fire hydrant you were a class 6. The rest of the community was a class 9.
On February 1, 2006 our community became a split classification 4/9. Now if you live within 1000 feet of a fire hydrant you are residing in a class 4 neighborhood. This could mean a savings to you from your insurance company. Every insurance company uses a different method to establish the rates you will pay for your protection. Please contact your local agent and ask them if this change will save you money. If they have any questions regarding this matter they can contact the Rootstown Fire Department for assistance. We can be reached at 330-325-7322.
We are currently working with the Insurance Services Organization regarding our Class 9 residents. It is our goal to reduce your insurance premiums through enhancing our water movement policies and practices. We are working with our neighboring fire departments to make this practice more efficient. Once we accomplish the objectives set forth by the Insurance services Organization we will ask for a new evaluation regarding our water movement criteria.
Thank you for your continued support and we hope this will be beneficial to your and your family.
Sincerely,
Charles W. Palmer Jr.
