Minutes of the Special Meeting of the Rootstown Township Trustees,
December 5, 2006

The special meeting of the Rootstown Township Trustees opened at 5:30 p.m. on December 5, 2006 to continue a public hearing from November 14, 2006 regarding ZC 2006-004. Those in attendance were Trustees Bonnie Howe, Diane Dillon and David Armentrout, and JoAnn Townend, Fiscal Officer.

The public hearing was opened at 5:30 p.m. by Bonnie Howe.

This public hearing is being held as a continuation of the original public hearing held at 6:30 p.m. on November 14, 2006 regarding ZC 2006-004. ZC 2006-004 is a request to rezone parcels 32-019-00-00-002.000 and 32-019-00-00-013.000 from G I to C 2.

David reviewed the proposed amendment. He stated he was inclined to follow the recommendations of the Regional Planning Commission.

Diane Dillon stated that she felt the same way and didn’t want to loose any more industrial land also that being able to market the land either way would be a better solution for the sellers.

Bonnie Howe agreed with both.

Resolution No. 2006-208 Motion by David Armentrout and seconded by Bonnie Howe to deny the rezoning request following the recommendation of the Portage County Regional Planning Commissioner which states: “The RPC staff recommends that the request to change the zoning of the F. J. Navarrete and M.D. or L. Conwell properties from G I to C 2 be disapproved. Additionally the Zoning Commission should consider placing all of the properties having frontage along Prospect Street,, north of Sandy Lake Road, in a Planned Commercial Overlay District, as the F.J. Navarrete property currently is. Plus the PCOD requirements should stipulate that five acres be established as the minimum acreage requirement for this are of the Township”.

Upon roll call the vote was as follows: Bonnie Howe, Yea; Diane Dillon, Yea; David Armentrout, Yea.

The public hearing was closed at 5:45 p.m.
