Minutes of the Meeting of the Rootstown Township Zoning Board of Appeals
June 21, 2011The regular meeting of the ROOTSTOWN ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS was held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. at the Rootstown Town Hall.

ZBA Secretary, Mary Ann GreerMr. Cutright called the meeting order. Mr. Cutright introduced the Board members and explained the evenings' procedures.
On the agenda was an application for a variance from Section 310.04, D for property located at 3994 Sappwood Drive (Muzzy Lake) in an R-2 District submitted by:

Ravenna, OH 44266Mr. Cutright swore in Jill Anderson, 3994 Sappwood Drive, Ravenna, Ohio. Mrs. Anderson said they would like to add an addition to the east side of the house where the deck is now. It would include a master bedroom, bathroom and closets. This is now their primary home.
Ms. Milnes asked where the addition would be added. Mrs. Anderson said it would be on the east side where the deck (to be removed) is now.
Mr. Ball had no questions.
Mrs. Saillant asked if the addition would be outside of the footprint. Mrs. Anderson stated it wouldn�t exceed the footprint but it will be closer to the road side by 10 feet. Mrs. Saillant said it would be 45 feet away from the right-of-way. Mrs. Anderson said it would actually be 55 feet.
Mr. Manion had no questions,
Mr. Cutright asked the distance to the next closest structure. Mrs. Anderson said it was 9 feet to the property line and about 9 feet to the next house.
Mr. Cutright said he would like to run through the 10 questions on the application that weren't answered. Mrs. Anderson said she really had trouble with them because they are in an unusual situation.

Mr. Cutright asked the audience if there were any questions, comments, or concerns.
Mr. Cutright swore in William Allen, 3996 Sappwood Drive, Ravenna, Ohio. Mr. Allen (next door neighbor) asked if they intended to fill in the lot. Mrs. Anderson said they intend to fill in the lot around structure because there will be a new foundation under the addition. They intend to make sure that the drainage from the lake remains the same between the properties. It might even be improved if possible.
Mr. Mahood said that would have to be checked with Portage County Storm Water Management.
Resolution ZBA 2011-006. Ms. Milnes made a motion to grant the request as submitted. Mrs. Saillant seconded it. A vote was taken as follows: Saillant - Yes Milnes - Yes Manion - Yes Ball - Yes Cutright - Yes. The motion carried unanimously (5/0).
Mrs. Saillant made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Cutright seconded it. A vote of all ayes was taken to adjourn. Mr. Cutright adjourned the meeting.
