Minutes of the Meeting of the Rootstown Township Zoning Commission
March 15, 2010The Rootstown Township Zoning Commission met in regular session on Monday, March 15, at 7:00 p.m. at the Rootstown Town Hall.

Judy Adamson, secretaryChair, AnneMarie Mullenix, called the meeting to order.
Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Karen Henry made a motion to approve the February 15, 2010 Zoning Commission minutes as presented. George Tishma seconded the motion and all ayes were heard.
Zoning Inspector, Jim Mahood, gave a brief report of the progress of the township.
The breaking weather has brought about applications for permits to build accessory buildings, home additions, etc. No formal requests for business opportunities, but a few are scouting for potential locations for the future.
The group has been asked to consider possible dates for the annual joint meeting of the trustees, zoning board of appeals, and zoning commission. Trustee, Brett Housley, stopped by and the group expressed the best dates for their attendance to him. The trustees will decide and inform the group. The 25-year plan will be reviewed and they will provide the zoning commission with goals and objectives to be accomplished in the near future.
The trustees have approved the Chapter for Wind/Solar Energy with a few modifications effective this month.
The proposed amendment for fencing regulations that was forwarded to Portage County Regional Planning Commission was tabled by them due to some portions of it being non-applicable to the Ohio Revised Code sections referenced. Mr. Bob Harris has contacted the Ohio State Extension Office regarding the agricultural aspects of fencing corrals and pastures and also those of lots one acre or less in subdivisions. When Regional Planning receives more information, they will decide on the exact text to recommend as the amendment for this section.
Karen Henry made a motion to table the proposed amendment for fencing until such time that Portage County Regional Planning Commission passes on the information from the State Extension Office with their recommendation. George Tishma seconded the motion and all ayes were heard.
The next regularly scheduled zoning commission meeting is April 19, 2010.
Helen Vari made a motion to adjourn. George Tishma seconded the motion and all ayes were heard.
