Present:

AnneMarie Mullenix
Helen Vari

Absent:
Dan Dillabough, Alternate

Van-Note Black

Also present:

Judy Adamson, secretary

Chair, AnneMarie Mullenix, called the meeting to order. Everyone stood to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mrs. Mullenix began the meeting by informing the group that Rob Swauger has resigned from the Zoning Commission as he has moved from the area. The trustees will appoint one of the alternates to fill his unexpired term and then the position of vice-chair will be filled.

Last month the proposed amendment to current township fencing regulations was tabled because Portage County Regional Planning Commission had decided they needed more information from Ohio State University Extension Office to clarify some of the points submitted. The secretary was informed that they still have not received the information requested; therefore, the fencing amendment will be on hold until such time they provide the Zoning Commission with their recommendation.

Zoning Inspector, Jim Mahood, updated the group on the township zoning business of late. Mostly, permits for remodeling, updating, pools, and building decks and sheds have been the norm. A roofing business is coming to the Castle Products building on Tallmadge Road. He regularly gets inquiries about potential businesses locating in the township; however, many times after specifics are known, they may change their minds and not actually follow through with getting the official permits.

Karen Henry made a motion to approve the March 15, 2010 Zoning Commission meeting minutes as presented. Helen Vari seconded the motion and all ayes were heard.

Mr. Mahood reminded the group of the importance of attending the annual joint meeting with the Trustees and Zoning Board of Appeals this Wednesday, April 21 at the Town Hall. With new members appointed each year, it’s a chance to get acquainted and updated on the expected short-term goals for the near future.

The Zoning Commission will also review the Comprehensive Land Use Plan Addendum to continue their ongoing process of prioritizing the important issues of the township.

The next regularly scheduled Zoning Commission meeting is May 17, 2010.

Amanda Lewis made a motion to adjourn. Karen Henry seconded the motion and all ayes were heard.
